About Bertie Girl

Roberta Trouton – Bertie Girl – makes handmade handbags and accessories from Scotland’s iconic Harris Tweed, with quirky, innovative designs and no compromise on quality. Fabric is often bought in small runs, so many pieces are one-offs or limited editions. Every bag is individually hand crafted and ethically, locally made. For centuries the islanders of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra have woven the cloth the world knows as Harris Tweed – Clò Mòr in Gaelic, ‘the big cloth’. You can read more about its history at the Harris Tweed Authority.

Caring for your tweed bag

Tweed and tartan are hard-wearing natural wools. Brush off dust with a soft clothes brush, spot clean marks gently, and store your bag stuffed with paper in a dust bag so it keeps its shape. For a deeper clean, take it to a dry cleaner. Because each bag is handmade from small runs of cloth, the colours and patterns of the fabric are unique to your bag.
