This piece is made in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, by Pewtermill Crafts, a small family business founded by David Harkison in 1960, which produces fine pewter jewellery and giftware.

How to wear a kilt pin

A kilt pin is worn on the front apron of the kilt, near the lower corner of the outer edge, about two inches in from the side and up from the hem. Pin it through the top layer only – never through both aprons, as it should add weight rather than hold the kilt closed. A kilt pin also makes a lovely brooch on a sash, scarf or jacket lapel.
