About Cathedral Cask
Cathedral Cask is a small family business in Elgin, Moray, in the heart of Speyside – home to more than 36 distilleries. Rather than letting old whisky barrels become firewood, they hand-pick casks direct from a Speyside distillery and up-cycle the oak, keeping its natural rustic look and that rich aroma of oak, whisky and the natural beeswax used to finish each piece.
Caring for whisky cask wood
Each piece is made from real oak whisky staves, so knots, marks and colour variations are all part of its character. Dust with a soft dry cloth, keep it away from radiators and direct sunlight, and never leave lit candles unattended. A little beeswax polish now and then keeps the oak looking rich and brings out that whisky aroma.
