About Lydia MacDonald Designs

Established in 2012, Lydia MacDonald Designs makes bespoke hand-etched glassware, from vintage lanterns to customised vases and unique wedding gifts. Lydia draws on the natural world – native birds, stags, flowers and insects – and works from her studio in Pencaitland, East Lothian. Each stencil is used only once, so small variations make every piece unique.

Caring for etched glass

Hand etched glass is best washed by hand in warm, soapy water and dried with a soft cloth, as dishwashers can dull the etching over time. Because Lydia uses each stencil only once, small variations in the design make every piece one of a kind – a lovely gift for weddings, anniversaries and housewarmings.
